Mind your posture this Halloween to avoid injury

Halloween

Our spa is located on Front Street in Lahaina, where the world-famous Halloween block party takes place every year. With Halloween just around the corner, we thought it would be a good idea to offer some tips for a safe and comfortable costume experience.

First and foremost, everybody knows that you must be able to see and breathe while wearing your costume. If either your sight or your breathing become labored, remove your mask immediately.

But what most people don’t realize, is that the rest of your costume also needs to be considered, particularly when it comes to your posture and a mobility. You want to make sure your mobility is not compromised, because if it is, your body will create new and unorthodox ways of moving, which can easily lead to pulled muscles, sprains and inflammation. Also consider that your overall posture needs to remain strong and straight, again to avoid muscle injuries and soreness. Make sure your costume is as lightweight as possible, and that it does not alter your posture in a negative way.

We are open in the days following the block party, so if you experience muscle soreness or pain due to a Halloween costume that’s gone wrong, then book an appointment right away for a massage. A sports massage or shiatsu may be good remedies to help alleviate that discomfort.
